1846 Maps of Scotland by S. Lewis – leather bound “Topographical Dictionary of Scotland”

If you collect maps then have I got just the thing for you!  An 1846 leather “book” entitled “Topographical Dictionary of Scotland” by S. Lewis, it contains information/maps on islands, cities, burgh and market towns, parishes, and principal villages in Scotland. Each section is in fold-out form and, given the maps are well over 100 years old, in what I personally would call very good condition with minimal tearing, staining and foxing. As to be expected given the fold-out form, there are fold lines present. The maps look to be perhaps hand colored and are embellished with the engravings of the seals and arms of the different burghs and universities as well as offering historical and statistical descriptions. Published by S. Lewis and Co., 13 Finsbury Place, South and printed by Gilbert and Rivington, St. John’s Square, London. Whether you collect Scotland maps specifically, or are a fan of old maps in general and can appreciate the historical element of each, this is one you should add to your collection.  Leather “book” shows significant wear, but the binding is still intact and strong.  PayPal only.  USA buyer only unless you get the okay from me prior to purchase.  As such, shipping costs will change for international shipment.
