Antique English Decorated Tureen – in the style of James Giles
Looking for an extraordinary antique tureen? Look no further. This stunning, colorful tureen depicts a motif similar in style to “Fancy Birds” wrought by famous painter James Giles in his London studio circa 1760. This one, circa 1924/25 (dated by the registration number shown on bottom), is backstamped “Wilton Ware”–a brand of English pottery produced by A.G. Harley-Jones, in Fenton, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, England. It shows no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Lid shows two areas on border where the blue colored transfer has faded just a bit–certainly nothing that detracts from this attractive piece. Handles are on solid! Pictures just don’t do this tureen justice–in person the colors are deep and rich. Get it now before someone else beats you to it!
