Antique Paisley-Style Transferware Teapot – multi-colored, 2 cup, clean
Bold colors dominate this paisley-style teapot that is sure to be an attention getter. The blue, which in the photos appear like a cornflower blue are, in fact, leaning more towards a rich, almost cobalt blue. Unmarked, it holds about two and a half cups. Transfer is applied evenly and the outlining and detailing look to be hand done. Vented lid shows just a bit of roughness around the inside rim (see photo) and there is minor loss of the gold accents to a few areas. Bottom shows what could be a darkened glaze pop and a bit of roughness–as to be expected from continued use. Inside is bright white with no staining. Spout shows no chips, cracks or repairs. A very unusual but decidedly pleasing pattern which I personally have not seen before.
